A Return To Radiance

Creative Awakening on

One of Earth's Last Wild Shores

Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica - Jan 17-23, 2027

An art and meditation retreat.

There is a Sanskrit saying “Yatha Dristhti. Tatha Srishti.” Which translates to “As I am, so my world appears”.

Polishing your internal lens, refining your vision of reality exactly as it is, staying true to yourself exactly as you are, helps you to see the world around you more clearly. Making you a more powerful, responsible creator in your life on every level.

Come polish your lens, and clear your mind through practice. Nourish your body and enliven your spirit through play. And explore your creative potential through art.

I was reluctant to go. And I am so grateful I went.

When my dear friend Sandy first invited me to the Osa, I was feeling really depleted from a year of unexpected change. I was reticent to go given the distance and what a rustic trip it seemed to be.

Still something in my spirit kept nudging me. A knowing that it would be worth the effort.

Ojas. Osa. The words kept surfacing in my half-sleep.

In Sanskrit, Ojas means vitality, vigor, the fluid of life. It speaks to the essence that restores youthfulness and embodied brilliance. I didn't understand the connection until after I’d arrived. Then I knew: the beauty of the place was a medicine of it’s own.

Within an hour of arriving, I was playing in the shallows and napping in the breeze. By nightfall, the sounds and aliveness of the jungle threatened to keep me up, until I made a deal with the jungle to take the conversation to my dreams. For nine nights, it did. It recalibrated my nervous system to a steadiness I hadn't felt in years. I left nourished, restored, and re-inspired.

I came back to my life renewed and designed this retreat specifically so you can receive something similar.

The Art & Practice

We will be working with water color and inks. Playing with color, texture and shape. Seeing in new ways. Creating new pathways. Deep in practice with breath, meditation, movement sound.

No artistic experience required. No spiritual résumé needed. Only your open heart and genuine curiosity. Sandy's art teaching honors process over product. What you discover matters far more than what you make. Gitanjali’s spiritual offerings meet you exactly as you are, where you are.

The Land

One of the Last Wild Places
on Earth

The Osa Peninsula is remote by design. Its difficulty to reach is what has kept it extraordinary. You will arrive from San José aboard a small charter flight. And the moment the plane banks over the Gulfo Dulce (the ‘sweet waters’) that the Osa contains, the tension in your body might begin to release.

You will be held at Encanta La Vida. An off-grid retreat center nestled in the lush jungle, steps from the sea. Three nourishing meals a day, a comfortable room, and more beauty than you can absorb in a week.

Four Species of Monkeys, Scarlet Macaws, Sea Turtles, Sloths & Anteaters, Waterfall Pools, Jungle Rivers, Full Moon Ceremony, The Gulfo Dulce….

This is one of the last intact ecosystems in the world that supports these endangered species freely in the wild. To be in their presence is humbling. To be held by this jungle is a privilege.

A note on physicality: the Osa is raw and uneven. Expect jungle hikes to waterfalls on steep terrain, walks on rocky roads under the canopy, and swimming in ocean water with natural current. This retreat is appropriate for those in good physical health who are comfortable in wild environments.

Bring your curiosity & wonder

your purest desires & most heartfelt intent

Enjoy swims in the sea, dips in cool waterfall pools, hikes along jungle paths littered with petals of red, pink, purple and gold. Bask in the company of each other. while the jungle sings around you with the sounds of cicadas, howler monkeys, hawks and macaws.

Getting There

Everything You Need to Know

How do I get to the Osa?

Fly into San José International Airport (SJO), then take a short domestic charter flight with Sansa Airlines to Puerto Jiménez. From there, we arrange ground transport to Encanta La Vida — approximately 40 minutes through the jungle. The journey itself is part of the arrival.

Do I need artistic or meditation experience?

None whatsoever. Sandy's approach welcomes complete beginners and seasoned artists equally. Gitanjali's practices are accessible regardless of your background. All that's asked is an open heart and a willingness to explore.

What will I receive before the retreat?

Upon registration you'll receive a welcome packet with everything you need: a packing guide, what to expect at each stage of travel, and preparation suggestions to help you arrive ready to receive.

Is laundry available?

Yes. There's an on-site laundry service available for a small fee. Sheets are freshly changed once during your 7-night stay.

How physically demanding is it?

Moderately strenuous. You should be comfortable hiking on steep, uneven jungle trails, walking on rocky unpaved roads, and swimming in the ocean (the Gulfo Dulce carries some current). If you have health concerns, we're happy to discuss before you register.
