Where the Jungle meets the Sea

A Nourishing Art and Meditation Retreat

on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica

Winter 2026

Join us on these untamed lands that are pulsing with life force and beauty, as we nourish ourselves, deepen in clarity and renew our creative flow.

The Osa is a pristine paradise. Remote and hard to reach. One hundred percent off grid. Here, living in harmony and close to the natural elements, you are at once humbled and lovingly held.

It is a deep privilege to be in close proximity to the many endangered species living freely and playing in their natural habitats, in one of the last intact ecosystems that support them in the wild. Four different types of monkeys, scarlet macaws, sea turtles, anteaters and sloths wander freely and are woven into your days.

This jungle is abundant with life force. Gentle, powerful and free. Come join us and let it feed and nurture your body and soul!

I was introduced to the Osa at the invitation of my dear friend Sandy this past winter. Sandy is a professional exhibiting artist, creative guide and retreat facilitator who has lived part time on the Osa peninsula for 25 yrs. She has deep roots with the community and the land and is passionate about sharing its magic with others. We are blessed to have her as a facilitator and guide for this unique retreat.

When I accepted Sandy’s invitation, I showed up feeling depleted and drained, following a challenging year filled with unexpected change. I was reticent to go given the distance and what a rustic trip it seemed to be.

But something in my spirit kept telling me that if I took the risk, it would be worth the effort. And I am so grateful that I listened to that internal knowing and allowed the magic of the Osa to restore my being.

As I was considering whether I should go or not, the Sanskrit word Ojas and the name Osa would flip flop in mind in the liminal moments as I was waking and falling asleep. It wasn’t until I arrived in the Osa that I understood what life was trying to tell me.

The Sanskrit word Ojas can be translated to mean vitality, vigor, energy, essence. Ojas is considered the ‘fluid of life’. And from an Ayurvedic lens increasing Ojas, restores youthfulness. Increasing Ojas increases our embodied splendor and brilliance and is the foundation of vibrant well being.

This rejuvenation is what the Osa offers.

As soon as the small plane made the turn over the Gulfo Dulce (the ‘sweet waters’) that the Osa contains, the tension in my body began to release. The beauty of the place is a medicine of it’s own.

Within an hour of arriving I was playing in the shallows and napping in the warm breeze.

My first night there the sounds and aliveness of the jungle threatened to keep me up, until I made a deal with the jungle, that we could take the conversation to my dreams. And for the next nine nights the jungle dreamed me and re-wove my understanding of pleasure, balance, creativity, belonging and play.

The jungle and the waters recalibrated my nervous system and stabilized my baseline to a level I hadn’t felt in years. I left feeling, nourished, restored, renewed and re-inspired.

Central to the Magic of this retreat is Sandy’s connection to the place. She knows first hand how the rhythms, textures, and expansive energy of the Osa naturally open pathways to creative insight and personal transformation for the many people she has introduced to it over the years. Her work as a professional artist and creative retreat facilitator are profoundly inspired by the natural world. And on this retreat, as you are inspired by the peninsula’s pristine beaches, lush rainforest, and extraordinary biodiversity, Sandy will guide you in creative explorations with watercolor and charcoal, as you get more intimate with the creative visionary within.

There is another saying in Sanskrit “Yatha Dristhti. Tatha Srishti.” Which translates to- “As I am, so my world appears”. Polishing your internal lens, refining your vision of reality exactly as it is, staying true to yourself exactly as you are- helps you to see the world around you more clearly. Making you a more powerful, responsible and less reactive, creator in your life on every level and in your relationships of all sorts.

With Sandy’s and Gitanjali’s expert guidance you will be connecting with the beauty of the Osa much more clearly and intimately than you otherwise would. Refining your attention to detail, pattern and flow and through our shared practices and processes of meditation, energy work and relational play, we will allow ourselves to be recalibrated, nourished and transformed.

There are no skill level requirements for attendance other than your curiosity and open heart. No matter where you are on your spiritual or artistic journey, you are welcome here. To play, explore, discover and renew.

Sandy is known for creating nurturing environments where artists of all levels feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and reconnect with their creative voice. Her teaching emphasizes process over outcome, inviting participants into a space of play, curiosity, and self-discovery.

Gitanjali is known for curating loving retreat containers all over the world. That follow an expertly designed arch that magically meets the individual intentions of each member of the group while simultaneously lovingly calling forth the unique medicine of the group.

We Lovingly invite you to join us for this unique experience in a rare and precious place.

All the while the jungle singing and roaring around us with sounds of cicadas, howler monkeys, hawks and macaws.

(This retreat is somewhat physically strenuous. The Osa is raw and wild. Be prepared and able to hike some steep trails to and from waterfalls, to walk uneven, poorly lit, rocky roads under the jungle canopy. And to swim in the Golfo Dulce (sweet water) ocean that flows with some undertow and currents).
